Sarah Blasko, please never leave NYC! [Updated, with links and last names!]

I don’t have internet yet in my new place, so I’ve not been doing much at all in the way of internet-related things (which has been lovely, actually)…so I would have already written about Sarah Blasko by now, but I haven’t gotten to it until now.

Sarah Blasko 3 @ The Living Room 14 Sept 07

Sarah Blasko with Ben Fletcher at The Living Room NYC, NY 14 September 2007

After seeing her perform at The Living Room, I was compelled tonight to stop at an internet cafe on the way home to drop a quick note about Sarah Blasko and the performances I have been blessed to attend while she’s in New York in support of the U.S. release of her latest CD What The Sea Wants, The Sea Will Have.

She has one more performance next Friday 21 September 7:00PM at The Living Room on Ludlow in the LES.

She has one show in Los Angeles at the Hotel Cafe. The last time I was there I saw the last two songs of a set by Gus Black. It’s a cool little joint. If you are anywhere on the west coast of the continental U.S. on 26 September, take yourself to the Hotel Cafe to see Sarah Blasko. Seriously. If I find out you were in LA and didn’t go, I’ll be VERY disappointed.

I cannot stress this enough: you must go see her before she leaves town. She is supported here in NYC by Ben on guitar and vocals, and by Greta on keys. (No last names because I do not know Ben’s, and because it would look weird to write Greta’s last name and not write Ben’s, even though Greta Gertler is one of the best names I have ever encountered.)

Sarah Blasko with Greta Gertler and Ben Fletcher at Union Hall, Brooklyn NY 11 September 2007

[UPDATE 15 Sept: Making amends…Ben is Ben Fletcher, and his serene presence on stage is one specific part of the appeal of seeing Sarah here in NY. And in the Dept. of Fessin Up, when I first met him the background noise at Pete’s made it so I could not even hear his name. I knew I would eventually get it, but I was embarrassed to admit that my hearing ain’t what it used to be.)

Some time soon I’ll write in depth about Sarah’s music, and about how fortunate I am to have seen her perform three times in the last week.

No links to anything because I have a horrible headache and the glow of the screen is quite uncomfortable. Maybe later.

One last note: I met Tixgirl tonight, she of the terrific website www.tixgirl.com. I am so glad she made it tonight. It was great meeting her and I was thrilled to learn she knew of Sarah and had already posted something on her site about tonight’s show.

More fun later. I need to get out of here and make this headache go away. Listen to me…waaa, waaa. What a baby. I know.

It truly was an awe-inspiring show, and I wouldn’t have known about it had it not been for you! So thank you for both the shout-out, and also for the heads-up that Sarah was in town. I’d have been sooooo bummed if I had missed it. Check out the tixgirl.com blog for some videos from the show. The audio came out surprisingly well. It’s almost like being there. Almost. (*sigh*)
